Sayu

Genshin New 4-Star Sayu Build and Details

Sayu is the latest 4-star character to be coming to Genshin Impact. She has an Anemo vision and yields a claymore which is kind of bizarre as she has the character model of a young female; same with likes of Klee, Qiqi, and Diona but she is much older than the rest of them due to her stunted growth. She is a support healer as her burst heals allies but can also be used as a main DPS.

Who is Sayu?

Sayu was announced during the 2.0 Livestream. She is the first Anemo claymore user. She hails from Inazuma’s Shiyuumatsu-Ban, a secret organization under the Yashiro Commission. Sayu is the resident ninja of Shiyuumatsu-Ban and the presence of them is known to most Inazumans. Sayu is a special existence in the Shuumatsuban. She has been raised in the Shuumatsuban since she was a child, and is extremely loyal to the organization.

Combat Talents

Normal Attack:

Sayu – Normal & Charged Attack

Shuumatsuban Ninja Blade:

Normal: Performs up to 4 consecutive strikes.

Charged: Drains stamina over time to perform continuous spinning attacks against all nearby enemies. At the end of the sequence, performs a more powerful slash.

Plunging: Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground, damaging enemies along the way and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

Elemental Skill:

Sayu – Elemental Skill

Yoohoo Art: Fuuin Dash

Sayu curls up into a rolling Fuufuu Windwheel and smashes into enemies at a fast pace, dealing Anemo DMG. When the duration ends, she unleashes a Fuufuu Windwheel Kick, dealing AoE Anemo DMG.

Press: Enter Fuufuu Windwheel state, rolling forward a short distance before using the Fuufuu Whirlwind Kick.

Hold: Rolls about continuously in the Fuufuu Windwheel state, increasing Sayu’s resistance to interruption while within the state. During this time, Sayu can control the direction of her roll and can use the skill again to end her Windwheel state early and unleash a stronger version of the Fuufuu Whirlwind Kick. The hold version of this skill can trigger Elemental Absorption. This skill has a max CD of 10s and enters CD once its effects end. The longer Sayu remains in her Windwheel state, the longer the CD.

Elemental Absorption: Sayu being an Anemo character will obviously have the ability to fuse different elements. If Sayu comes in contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro while in Windwheel state, she will deal additional elemental DMG of the element infused with Anemo. This can occur only once per use of this skill.

Elemental Burst:

Sayu – Elemental Burst

Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry

Deals Anemo DMG to nearby enemies and heals all party members. The amount of HP restored is scaled off Sayu’s ATK. This skill also summons a Muji-Muji Daruma.

Muji-Muji Daruma: At certain intervals, the Daruma will take one of the several actions based on the situation.

  • If HP of nearby character is above 70%, it will attack a nearby enemy, dealing Anemo DMG
  • If HP of nearby character is below 70%, it will heal the active character with the lowest percentage HP left. If there are no enemies nearby, it will heal active characters nearby even if the have HP above 70% or more.

Weapons

There are quite a few weapon options available for Sayu. We will showcase all the best weapons for her from the following categories from 5-star, 4-star also f2p friendly. It also depends on how you want to build Sayu; as a DPS or as a support healer.

5-Star Weapons

Wolf's Gravestone
Wolf’s Gravestone

Wolf’s Gravestone:

The Wolf’s Gravestone is best in class weapon for Sayu. It’s passive gives its secondary stat increases the wielder’s attack, and the special skill boosts it by a further 20%. Unlike Swirl, Elemental Absorption draws its power from the user’s damage instead of from the existing element. The increased attack power serves Sayu well in normal combat. However, it also makes her support potential even more valuable when using Fuuin Dash and gives the Muji-Muji Daruma better healing ability as it scales off Sayu’s ATK.

Skyward Pride:

Our second choice for a 5-star weapon for Sayu will be Skyward Pride. If you want to build Sayu around her Burst, Skyward Pride is a good choice. This one increases Base ATK by 674 (at level 90) and all damage by 8-12%, but also increases Energy recharge. That means Sayu can summon the Muji-Muji Daruma more often and either heal the party or deal Anemo damage to nearby enemies. You’ll want to consider increasing her attack with Artifacts in this build to augment Daruma’s healing efficacy.

4 – Star Weapons

Here we have a nice range of weapons which suits Sayu. It also depends on what stat you are looking for. If you are looking to increase her ATK then “The Royal Greatsword” is a decent option, it’s passive give a Crit Rate increase and also provides a high Base ATK. You can max refine this weapon easily as it is only obtained through the in-game shop for Masterless Starglitter. Now if you are looking to increase ER (Energy Recharge) of Sayu then you have a couple of options, firstly the “Favonius Greatsword” provides the highest ER% (at level 90) and secondly you can use the “Sacrificial Greatsword” due to the awesome passive ability to reduce your elemental skill CD up to 80% every 16s (at max refinement). Although it doesn’t have a particularly high ER% but it compensates for it by having a high Base ATK.

F2P Weapons

We haven’t forgotten about you F2P folks out there. We do have a few options for you depending on which secondary stat you require; be it ATK% or ER%.

Prototype Archaic
Prototype Archaic R1 Lvl 1

Prototype Archaic:

As for weapon is ATK% you can use the old and trusty craftable weapon Prototype Archaic which will provide you with high Base ATK and it has an interesting passive; “Crush”, ‘On hit, Normal or Charged Attacks have a 50% chance to deal an additional 240/300/360/420/480% ATK DMG to opponents within a small AoE. Can only occur once every 15s.’

Katsuragikiri Nagamasa
Katsuragikiri Nagamasa R1 Lvl 90

Katsuragikiri Nagamasa:

As for a F2P weapon that has ER% as a secondary stat the new Inazuma craftable claymore, “Katsuragikiri Nagasama” is the one you should be aiming to get. Again this weapon is perfect for Sayu as you can easily max refine it provided you have the billets and secondly the passive ability, “Samurai Conduct” provides an ‘Increased Elemental Skill DMG by 6/7.5/9/10.5/12%. After Elemental Skill hits an opponent, lose 3 Energy but regenerate 3/3.5/4/4.5/5 Energy every 2s for the next 6s. This effect can occur once every 10s. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field.’ This weapon will give high Base ATK along with decent ER% making it ideal for Sayu as she requires ATK for healing and ER% for spamming her burst.
